Email Authentication
We've all opened our inbox at one time or another only to find that dubious email. You know, the one that says it comes from your favourite company - but does it really?
What is Email Authentication?
When you send an email campaign using Squeezymail, we let you send it from your own email address (such as newsletter@yourcompany.com). Because of the way email was originally put together, it's pretty easy to make an email look like it came from anyone.
Email Authentication helps to combat this problem by providing some reassurance that an email is indeed from those you think sent it. By adding some simple information to your domain name's records, Squeezymail will be allowed to send authenticated email from your domain.
What difference does it make?
All the big email service providers (Hotmail, Googlemail, Yahoo to name but a few) are starting to use this feature as an important measure when they decide what their users see, and what gets marked as junk or spam. Your email campaign will also be marked as trusted, helping to build trust between you and your subscribers.
For example, look at the following image:

Notice that with the authenticated email, a little padlock symbol appears next to the address.
How do I do it?
To get your email address authenticated, you'll need to provide Squeezymail with your sending domain (we'll probably know this anyway). We'll then give you some details, which you'll need to add to your domain name's DNS records. It does sound a bit tricky, but it's well worth doing.
